Invention Piece 2 wins the prize for Best Complicated Watch at Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève

Greubel Forsey’s Invention Piece 2 was awarded the prize for Best Complicated Watch during the 12th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève on Thursday 15th November. The prize is awarded to the best watch in the Complicated category.

Stephen Forsey, who received the award on behalf of Greubel Forsey, said: “We are very honoured to be awarded this prize for Invention Piece 2. This timepiece pays homage to our second Fundamental Invention, the Quadruple Tourbillon. Its ‘open heart’ architecture reveals the intricate beauty of its complex mechanism and refined hand-finishing.

This prize is independent recognition of Greubel Forsey’s constant quest to improve timekeeping performance and pursuit of excellence in horological art.”

Launched at the 2011 SIHH, Invention Piece 2 is Greubel Forsey’s third prize-winning timepiece at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie following the award of the 2010 L’Aiguille d’Or for the Double Tourbillon 30° Édition Historique and the award of the 2009 Best Complicated Watch prize for the Double Tourbillon 30° Technique.

We are very pleased to announce that Greubel Forsey’s GMT recently won the prize for Best Complicated Watch at the Watch World Awards in Gurgaon, India.

The gala prize-giving ceremony was hosted by the respected horology publication Watch World at the Pullman Gurgaon Central Park Hotel and was attended by a number of Bollywood stars, politicians, industrialists and industry leaders.

The jury included master watchmaker Antoine Simonin, leading image consultant Chhaya Momaya and noted designer Priyadarshini Rao.

Art Piece 1 at the FIAC Paris art fair

Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey were present at the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC) in Paris recently where they presented Art Piece 1 at the VIP pre-opening.

Art Piece 1 is a collaboration with renowned micro-sculptor Willard Wigan, and features one of Wigan’s micro-sculptures, observable through special optics.

This presentation – the first in Europe following last month’s unveiling at the Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair – allowed visitors and collectors to discover this art work in progress. A more advanced version of Art Piece 1 will be unveiled during the 2013 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva.

Invention Piece 2 wins Best Design Watch at Middle East Premier Awards

We are pleased to announce that Greubel Forsey’s Invention Piece 2 has been awarded the MPP Arabia Best Design Watch prize at the Middle East Premier Awards for Watches, Jewellery and Pens in Bahrain.

This year is the eighth edition of the awards ceremony, which forms part of the five-day watch exhibition Jewellery Arabia 2012 taking place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Bahrain 16th-20th October.

Hosted by MPP ME, publishers of the Arabian Watches and Jewellery (AWJ) magazine, the Awards are the culmination of an online public voting system and the analysis of an elite committee comprising of watch, jewellery and pen experts.

Now in its 21st year, Jewellery Arabia is the largest and most prestigious jewellery exhibition in the Middle East, showcasing world famous names and artisan designs from across the globe.

Art Piece 1 project launches at Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair

Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey were recently at Shanghai Contemporary Shanghai Art Fair to present the Art Piece 1 project – the first artistic co-creation with world-renowned micro-sculptor Willard Wigan, who was also in attendance.

Currently a work in progress, Art Piece 1 will feature a micro-sculpture that can be fully appreciated through specially created optics. The finished creation will be a veritable tour de force in terms of art, innovation, architecture and technical complexity.

The Tourbillon 24 Secondes Contemporain was presented at the 2012 SIHH, Salon Intenational de la Haute Horlogerie, in Geneva. This timepiece features a platinum round case housing a stunning royal blue movement with three-dimensional architecture designed to highlight the Tourbillon 24 Seconds mechanism. The purity of this intense blue finish, achieved through a special oxidation process is the fruit of considerable research and testing and, shimmering in an infinite range of hues according to the light, gives the timepiece an unparalleled vivacity.

Quadruple Tourbillon Secret

The Quadruple Tourbillon Secret was presented at the 2012 SIHH, Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, in Geneva. While the full dial of the QT Secret hides the two double tourbillon oscillators below, the two 4-minute indicators on the dial provide a hint of the complexity underneath. Turning the timepiece over enables the four tourbillons systems presented head to tail and coupled by a spherical differential to be appreciated at a glance through the display back.

The Time Art Gallery^GF brings together and showcases three universes related to the creation and the art of watchmaking: The Greubel Forsey timepiece collection; the co-creation process undertaken with contemporary artists; and the work of master watchmakers whose work Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey consider milestones in horological history. Greubel Forsey chose the multicultural city of Shanghai for the Time Art Gallery^GF due to its ever-increasing prominence in the world of contemporary art.

The Time Art Gallery^GF is located in the beautifully restored waterfront complex, Bund 18, in Shanghai, a cultural crossroads and nerve centre for the thriving contemporary arts scene. In 2006, Bund 18 received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award of Distinction for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

Greubel Forsey’s winning Double Tourbillon 30° Technique to be displayed at Le Locle Horology Museum, Château des Monts

The Double Tourbillon 30° Technique with which Greubel Forsey won the 2011 International Chronometry Competition is to be exhibited at the Museum of Horology in Le Locle, Switzerland.

Last month, the Double Tourbillon 30° Technique claimed first place in the prestigious timing contest organised by the museum after scoring 915 points from a possible 1,000.

As one of 18 entries in the competition, the Double Tourbillon 30° Technique was subjected to rigorous positional and temperature tests over two 15-day periods at the COSC laboratory in Bienne, Switzerland, and the Besançon Observatory, France and then subjected to controlled shocks and magnetic fields at the Haute École Arc engineering college in Le Locle followed by another 15-day test at COSC in Bienne.

Watch connoisseurs will be able to marvel at the 5N red gold model – featuring a 60-second tourbillon cage inclined at 30° rotating inside a second four-minute tourbillon cage at the scene of its victory, as it will be on display at the Le Locle Horology Museum housed in the picturesque Château des Monts from the 15th of November to the 31st of December, 2011.

Double Tourbillon 30° Technique takes 1st place in International Timing Competition

Greubel Forsey's Double Tourbillon 30° Technique took first place in the 2011 International Timing Competition - Concours International de Chronometrie - organised for the second time by the Horological Museum in Le Locle Switzerland.

After more than 45 days of rigorous testing, which included three x 15 days of timing tests plus tests for resistance to shocks and magnetism, the Double Tourbillon 30° Technique (DT30T) came away with a 915 points from a possible 1000.

The DT30T was entered in the Tourbillon Category and won both that category and was the overall winner.

This result validates the approach taken by Robert Greubel, Stephen Forsey and all of their team in their quest for ever greater precision in wristwatches. For more information, please Chronométrie 2011

Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey will be present to dedicate the 2012 collector's edition being launched at the FIAC in Paris

Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey are featured in this special collector’s limited edition of ‘Annual’ and will attend the launch during the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC) in Paris on Saturday, October 22nd. It will be the third time that this prestigious contemporary art publication points the spotlight on the Greubel Forsey co-founders.

In this edition, art historian Damien Sausset is interviewing Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey to explore horological art arguing that it is inextricably a branch of contemporary art.

Annual 2012 will also present a paper on Greubel Forsey by Tita Reut who has previously written on Arman, Will Egle, Jaccard, Jilli and Rancillac.

A boxed limited edition of 200 copies will be released during FIAC on Saturday, October 22nd, where Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey will take part in a private autograph session with other featured artists such as Pavlos, John Isaacs, Mounir Fatmi, Stéphane Pencréac’h, Alex Angi, Marco Veronese, Axel Pahlavi and Florence Obrecht, Virginie Barré, Vincent Fournier.

Greubel Forsey pick up two prizes at the Watch World Awards in India

We are honoured to report that Greubel Forsey has won two prizes at the second edition of the prestigious “Watch World Awards” recently held in Greater Noida, north India.

Company co-founder Stephen Forsey attended the gala event, which was organised by India’s most respected horology publication and he came away clutching both the prize for “Limited Edition Watch of the Year” for Invention Piece 2, and also the inaugural individual award for his “Special Contribution to Haute Horlogerie”.

With its Quadruple Tourbillon, two regulating systems and one spherical differential, all showcased in a sculptured asymmetrical case displaying each meticulously finished mechanism to its fullest, Invention Piece 2 wowed the international jury which included Swiss master watchmaker Antoine Simonin.

The glittering ceremony took place at Jaypee Greens resort, which will host the first ever Formula One Grand Prix held in India.

Stephen Forsey said of the double accolade: “It’s very exciting for Greubel Forsey to be in India and to receive these prestigious awards from the biggest specialist magazine, Watch World.”

Greubel Forsey's Double Tourbillon 30° Edition Historique was honoured recently with 3rd place in the category "Men's Watch" as voted by the public at The Watch Days exhibition held in Geneva 12-14 of November.

That award was a portent of things to come as the following week, the Double Tourbillon 30° Edition Historique was awarded the top prize of "Aiguille d'Or" at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.

Greubel Forsey’s Double Tourbillon 30° Edition Historique in 5N red gold was awarded the Grand Prix de « L’Aiguille d’Or » prize during the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève on Thursday 18th November. The prize is awarded to the best watch from all categories of the competition. Stephen Forsey, who received the award on behalf of Greubel Forsey, said that he was, 'Very honoured to be awarded this prize, which is significant recognition for our young company'.

Launched in 2004, the Double Tourbillon 30° Contemporaine marked the beginning of the Greubel Forsey adventure. It was followed by other models featuring the complication, including the Double Tourbillon 30° Technique which was awarded the “Best Complicated Watch” prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2009.

Launch of the Double Tourbillon 30° Edition Historique

To commemorate the end of the Double Tourbillon 30° Contemporaine line at the end of 2010, Greubel Forsey has launched the exclusive "Double Tourbillon 30° Edition Historique".

The Edition Historique features structured text on the dial and decorative engraved and hand-finished plates on the sides of the case.

Since the debut of Greubel Forsey’s adventure in 2004, there have been three lines of the Double Tourbillon 30°: Contemporaine (Vision and Secret); Invention (Invention Piece 1); and Technique (Double Tourbillon 30° Technique). In 2010, Greubel Forsey will close the Double Tourbillon 30° Contemporaine line - thus ensuring its exclusivity - with this new Double Tourbillon 30° Edition Historique.

Singapore hosted the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie Asia on the 25th of September, and Greubel Forsey were honored in the prestigious category of 'Best Complicated Watch' for the Quadruple Tourbillon à Différentiel Sphérique.

This award continues a very successful year for Greubel Forsey, with the smooth transition into our new purpose-built building in La Chaux-de-Fonds and the prestigious 2009 Prix Gaïa award awarded to Stephen Forsey and Robert Greubel for 'Esprit d'entreprise'.

We are very pleased to announce that the 2009 Prix Gaïa in the category 'Esprit d'entreprise' has been awarded to Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey.

Now in its 15th year, the Prix Gaïa is the world's most prestigious horological award and Greubel Forsey is honoured at the recognition conferred on its founders, Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey.

And Greubel Forsey would like to congratulate Beat Haldimann, who was awarded the 2009 Prix Gaïa in the category 'Artisanat-création'.

Prizes will be awarded on the 17th September 2009 at the Musée International d’Horlogerie (MIH) in la Chaux de Fonds.

Greubel Forsey presents the 'Double Tourbillon Technique' and 'Invention Pieces 3' at Baselworld 2009

The Double Tourbillon Technique is an entirely original and innovative interpretation of Greubel Forsey’s first fundamental invention, the Double Tourbillon 30°.

At the heart of the timepiece is the Double Tourbillon 30° mechanism?; however, to perpetuate the art of horology and contribute to its 21st century development, several additional technical elements have been added, including four fast-rotating co-axial barrels.

Invention Piece 3 pays homage to Greubel Forsey's third invention, the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Incliné. The third invention consists of a single tourbillon cage inclined at a 25° angle and performing a rapid rotation in 24 seconds.

The minute display is concentric to the hour dial, with the hours distinguished by a red indicator and the minutes by a blue one. The power reserve, offset at 2 o’clock, is visually balanced by the tourbillon at 8 o’clock and provides linear reading of the indications. A sub-seconds dial at 5 o’clock ensures the overall equilibrium of the timepiece.

Revolution magazine awards their prize for best 'Technical Achievement' to Greubel Forsey's Quadruple

The acclaimed and groundbreaking international magazine, Revolution, has honoured Greubel Forsey yet again with the prize for best ‘Technical Achievement Award’ in 2008 for Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey’s 2nd Fundamental Invention, the Quadruple Tourbillon à Différentiel Sphérique.

This invention was presented at Baselworld 2008 and represented the culmination of five years of intense research and development into improving the timekeeping performance of the mechanical wristwatch.

Stephen Forsey received the award from Jack Forster (Technical Editor for Revolution magazine) during an informal gathering on Friday 23rd at the wonderful Four Season’s Hotel in Geneva. Also on hand to celebrate the ceremony were, Wei Koh (Group Editorial Director of Revolution), Bruce Lee (Managing Director of Revolution), Ian Skellern (contributing journalist and Greubel Forsey Forum moderator), Emmanuel Vuille (Greubel Forsey’s newly appointment CEO) and Nicole Segundo (Greubel Forsey’s Communication director). The jury consisted of Revolution’s international editors.

Stephen Forsey a guest speaker at the British Horological Institute' extremely successful 150th anniversary seminars

The British Horological Institute recently celebrated its 150th anniversary with three days of seminars and presentations by extremely distinguished speakers. Steven Forsey was one of those invited to discuss his work and he gave an excellent talk about the why and how of the Greubel Forsey approach to horology.

And in what must be the ultimate accolade and acknowledgment, George Daniels (pictured sitting on the right) mentioned Greubel Forsey work with tourbillons as important in making the tourbillon relevant to the wristwatch (as compared to its original function in the pocket watch).

The Tourbillon 24 Secondes Incliné (T24Si) successfully passed its EWT validation with flying colours and is now available as a finished Invention. Greubel Forsey's EWT® laboratory testing proved that the T24Si's innovative, ultra-light repidly rotating tourbillon approach significantly improves the timekeeping performance of the single-axis tourbillon.
